About this place

Sharambeyan Street is the one place in Dilijan where you can see how the town looked a century ago. A short stretch of 19th-century houses — rough stone below, carved wooden balconies above, tiled roofs — was restored as the "Old Dilijan" complex, and the ground floors were given to craftspeople: a woodcarver, a potter, a carpet weaver, a stone cutter, and a small museum of local objects.

It is not a large place, and that is its charm. Come for an unhurried hour: watch someone at work, buy something made on the premises rather than imported, and sit with a coffee on a balcony above the street. Several of Dilijan's better cafés and a well-known hotel restaurant are here or just around the corner, which makes it the natural start or end to any day in town.
